Pearl I Young

Thanks to Mimi Kome, who passed along this link about Pearl Young, which describes her as “the first woman to be hired as a technical employee at the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA), 1929. The organization which would later become NASA in 1958.”  The photo also appears on her Wikipedia page.  A NASA blog says that “In 1929, Young was appointed as Langley’s first ever Chief Technical Editor” and cites the image as NASA image EL-2000-00347.  The blog says she also spent part of her career as an Assistant Professor of Physics at Pennsylvania State College (now Penn State University).
